Frequently Asked Questions:

"Thank you so much for class today!  It was a WONDERFUL and invogorating way to start a new year!"

How long is the class?

  • Class will be a max of 60 minutes in length.

What time will the class start?

  • We will start class at 10:15am sharp! So please arrive by 10am to grab your goodies, find your spot in the park and be ready to flow!

Where will this take place?

  • Polar Bear Yoga will begin at 10am at the green space to the west of what used to be Elmhurst Hospital. The park is on the south side of the street. Nearest cross streets are Third and Emory in Elmhurst. This is the same location where Yoga in the Park took place over the summer.

Yoga is typically done barefoot, laying on the ground at the end, etc. What can I expect this practice to be like?

  • This will be a modified practice to accommodate being outside in the cold. We'll keep our boots/shoes on. We won't be laying on the cold or wet ground. The practice will mainly be done on our feet. I love plank pose, so expect to have your hands touching the ground.

What if I've never done yoga before? Can I still come?

  • Absolutely! This class is intended to be a fun practice to establish a clean start for the new year. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

What's included in my $25 fee?

  • You'll get a one-hour yoga class, coffee/cocoa from Pilot Pete's Coffee & Treats, an event t-shirt (for registrations received by 12/18/20), and other Elmhurst-area coupons and goodies. Currently coupons and goodies from Fruitful Yield, Tannins, the Elmhurst Bicycle Club and Judith B are included in your bag, with more in the works!

What should I wear?

  • Layers are recommend, starting with an inner layer that wicks away perspiration, with additional layers on top to keep you warm. As we continue with the class, we will get warm and you may want to peel a layer off. Feel free to wear boots, hats and gloves as needed to keep you warm. Who knows what the weather will be so dress appropriately.

Will I need a yoga mat?

  • No - we'll skip the mat, assuming it will be wet and possibly muddy. Our yoga flow will be done primarily on our feet.

Can kids participate?

  • Yes, bring the teenagers!! Kids can participate, but it is recommended they be of at least middle-school age since this is not intended to be a class with special modifications for children. Also please note that t-shirts will only be available in adult sizes and there is no discounted rate for children. Everyone has the same registration fee, and everyone attending must be registered.

Is there a minimum or maximum number for this event?

  • A minimum of 20 people are needed to hold the event. Should we cancel due to low attendance, full refunds will be offered. There is currently no maximum number, however, if a larger space is needed due to demand, a new space will be sought to allow for needed distancing. The park can easily hold 50 people.

What is the cancellation policy?

  • Cancellations received up to December 18, 2020 are fully refundable. Between December 19, 2020 and December 29, 2020, cancellations will incur a $10 cancellation fee. Any cancellations received after December 29, 2020, as well as no-shows on the day of, forfeit the registration fee completely. Transfers will only be accepted prior to December 29th and in this case, no changes to t-shirt size will be allowed.
